A Journey of Perseverance and Inspiration
From Aerospace Engineering to the Gridiron
Robert Joshua Dobbs (born January 26, 1995) is an American football quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League (NFL).
Dobbs' journey to the NFL was unconventional. After graduating from the University of Tennessee with a degree in aerospace engineering, he decided to pursue a career in football.
A Star in the Making
Despite going undrafted in the 2017 NFL Draft, Dobbs signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers as a free agent. He spent five years with the Steelers as a backup quarterback, learning from Ben Roethlisberger.
In 2022, Dobbs joined the Tennessee Titans, where he made his first career start. He impressed, throwing for over 300 yards and a touchdown in a win over the Indianapolis Colts.
An Inspiring Bond
Off the field, Dobbs has made a significant impact. He formed a close friendship with a young brain tumor patient named Evan. Dobbs' support and encouragement have inspired Evan and his family during challenging times.
Eyes on the Prize
With the 49ers, Dobbs faces competition for the backup quarterback role. However, his determination and unwavering work ethic have made him a strong contender.
