NBA: Timberwolves Fall to Nuggets 106-99

The Minnesota Timberwolves were unable to hold onto their home-court advantage, falling to the Denver Nuggets 106-99 in Game 1 of their Western Conference semifinal series on ESPN.
The Nuggets were led by Nikola Jokic, who had 26 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists. Jamal Murray added 21 points, while Aaron Gordon contributed 18 points and 10 rebounds.
The Timberwolves were led by Karl-Anthony Towns, who had 22 points and 10 rebounds. Anthony Edwards added 18 points, while D'Angelo Russell had 17 points and 6 assists.
The Nuggets jumped out to a 10-point lead in the first quarter and never looked back. They led by as many as 15 points in the second quarter, but the Timberwolves cut the lead to 5 points at halftime.
The Timberwolves made a run in the third quarter, cutting the lead to 2 points, but the Nuggets responded with a 10-0 run to take control of the game. The Timberwolves were unable to get any closer than 5 points in the fourth quarter.
The Nuggets will host Game 2 of the series on May 6th. The Timberwolves will need to find a way to slow down Jokic and Murray if they want to tie the series.
